SEPTEMBER’S GUEST OF THE MONTH IS MARC HALLWORTH!!!
Marc is a cheerful (yet poor!) (his words) comedian originally from Calgary. He’s been living in Toronto since 2009 doing stand-up, sketch, improv, writing, and directing, and he’s been loving all of it. A great day for Marc involves doing comedy with his community, going skateboarding for a bit, and of course, getting all-you-can-eat sushi.
WE ASKED MARC A FEW QUESTIONS:
🟡 Q: What’s the most ridiculous thing you ever bought?
🟠 A: I had a filthy roommate who managed to attract rats into our apartment. I bought a thing to detract them (the rats, not the roommate) that plugs into the wall and produces ultrasonic sound waves. Then I came home a week later and saw a rat run DIRECTLY in front of it. It clearly doesn’t do anything – it MIGHT even play little “rat EDM music” that the rats enjoy.
🟡 Q: What makes you feel old?
🟠 A: Seeing people with their phones out. I did a show last night and someone was filming the whole thing, and that’s not weird for a 20-year-old. It’s actually WEIRDER to ask them to leave their phone in their pocket. Putting your phone on the table during dinner is a power move, cause there’s no way you won’t get distracted by it. Like Pablo Escobar resting his gun there.
🟡 Q: If you could rename one object what would it be and what would you name it?
🟠 A: I eat meat, but I wonder if I’d eat less of it if meats were named accurately. It shouldn’t be called a “burger,” it should be called a “cow ass.” It shouldn’t be called “bacon”, it should be called “a piggy’s baby-daughter’s flesh.”
🟡 Q: When was the last time you stayed up all night?
🟠 A: I looked through my old calendar (I’ve got it all here, since May 2009!) and I see in December 2019 I did a Harry Potter Marathon. I think I was the only one of all my friends to stay awake through all 8 movies! They didn’t make it – what a bunch o’ muggles, eh?!
🟡 Q: You’ve been on a whopping 24 Sonar episodes! Which one is your fav?
🟠 A: Oooh I always love being on Sonar – I really liked the Spooked! episode that Vest of Friends did back in 2016, but I probably laughed the craziest when I was on Erin Pim’s Bed Post Podcast!
🟡 Q: What do you have that people can check out now?
🟠 A: I just recorded something for the Spooked! 300th episode. I know I get to do two shows with Puff Mama, one at The Redwood Theatre on September 2 and one at Comedy Bar on September 22. Other than that, see you at…uh…the Canadian Polls on September 20?
