Last November, right around the time of yet another cursed U.S. election, we packed up our gear and flew to Los Angeles to record a podcast about a magical kingdom destroyed by capitalism. It was only fitting.
We were there to record StanLand, a five-part satirical audio series that starts July 29. We recorded with an absolutely stacked cast: Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Steve Little (Eastbound & Down), Timm Sharp (Enlightened, Megan 2.0), and Lauren Adams (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). We recorded the full main cast in 3 days at the cozy Odenkirk-Provissiero offices. It felt like the kind of thing we shouldn’t have been able to pull off. But somehow, we did.

The story of StanLand:
A jaded podcaster (played by Rhea) and a clueless man-child from Maryland (Bobby) find themselves in a once-pristine fantasy realm called Zyngia, now overrun with vape shops, gated golf communities, and business colleges. Think Narnia meets Myrtle Beach, with a healthy dose of existential dread and full sound design. The series was created and written by Mike Sacks (Vanity Fair, Esquire, Poking a Dead Frog) and S.G. Wilson (The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly), and we couldn’t be prouder to be producing and releasing it through Sonar.
StanLand was also selected as an Official Selection at the 2025 Tribeca Festival, our first time ever being part of the festival’s audio storytelling program. Getting to premiere the show in New York alongside some of the best in the industry was surreal, humbling, and honestly, bananas. We’re still reeling.
Starting July 29, the episodes will release weekly on all podcast players.
If you want to hear the whole thing right away, you can binge all five episodes ad-free on July 29 with an Apple Podcasts subscription. And if you stick around, there’s even more:
Bonus episodes featuring cast interviews and behind-the-scenes talk
Answering fan questions
Spin-off mini-series already in development (!), all exclusive to Apple subscribers
And yes, all of it ad-free
This project is a real milestone for us. Sonar started in 2017 as a scrappy group of friends trying to help each other make great podcasts. Now, somehow, we’re collaborating with Emmy nominees, recording in Bob Odenkirk’s office, and releasing a surrealist fantasy-comedy about the collapse of modern society. Hell yeah.
So, mark your calendars for July 29. Subscribe to StanLand wherever you get your podcasts, and if you want to go deeper into Zyngia (and we know you will), head to Apple Podcasts and come with us beyond the paywall.
Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years and helped us to get to this very cool point in our Sonar journey.
